History of Khurai

Khurai is a very old tehsil of Sagar district and also a very large assembly constituency. Here advanced wheat is produced and agricultural equipment is also manufactured. The agricultural equipment here is known all over the country. The main places to see here are - Lal Mandir, Fort of Gaud Kings, Dohela Temple etc. Currently, Khurai Hanota is being developed as a tourist destination through Hanota Bina River Project. In 2018, when the boundary of Khurai city was extended, 12 nearby villages have come under Khurai city limits, due to which the population of Khurai city has increased. Now there are 32 wards in Khurai.

Khurai Municipality was formed in 1893, at that time Indore and Khurai were ranked among the best municipalities of Madhya Pradesh. Khurai Mandi is the oldest mandi of Sagar district and one of the oldest mandis of Madhya Pradesh, which was established in 1893 itself, which was known as Khurai Ganj. Even today, Khurai Mandi is famous all over India for 306 wheat. Khurai is known all over the country for the manufacture of agricultural equipment. The agricultural equipment manufactured here is known for its high quality. People from many states come here to buy agricultural equipment. The building of Khurai police station was constructed in 1904 and a sub-jail has been established here for about 25 years. And the court was also established in Khurai in 1862.
